greenhouse gas is a gas that can absorb infrared radiation in the atmosphere.

As these gases take in infrared radiation, they trap heat within the troposphere, the lowest layer of the atmosphere.

In turn, this will increase surface temperatures, a phenomenon known as the greenhouse effect.

In essence, the greenhouse effect is what causes global warming.

In order to stop climate change, we must reduce our greenhouse gas emissions or else face dire consequences.
